Some of the unfortunate turns in our lives open the door to a good destination. Jasmine Rose, Founder/President of the American Cosmetics Company Laws of Nature in Washington, D.C., had no idea she’d be in the cosmetics business one day. A professional graphic designer, Ms. Rose was inspired to travel that road after her mother passed away, as she told The African Magazine in this exclusive, short conversation.

The African Magazine: What brought you to the cosmetics business?

In 2007, I made the transition to a natural beauty and wellness lifestyle after learning my mother had been diagnosed with terminal breast cancer. One of the last beauty items to switch over to natural was my foundation. At the time, I had difficulty finding brands that offered my shade. After years of frustration, I decided to experiment with DIY [Do It Yourself] recipes at home. In 2015, I launched my cosmetics business.

What makes Laws of Nature’s products different from others?

Our foundation is truly nourishing for your skin since it contains organic and natural ingredients. It is completely free of toxic chemicals found in many commercial brand products such as parabens, talc, mineral oil, and dimethicone. What sets us apart is our ability to offer custom color blending. If a customer is unable to find their right match, we’ll go the extra mile and develop one.
