Gone but not Gone—A tribute to Chadwick Boseman

BY NIGERIAN AUTHOR AMARA CHIDINMA EZEDINIRU
Courage has just been defined
For in spite of the pain
He held on
Pain of colon cancer
Holding on smiling
Not an inclining to us that his time was short
Chadwick Boseman means courage
—-
Strength has been personified
A man knew his dwindling fate
He signed on to thrill us
He brought memories to our screens
And to our faces
Until his demise
Chadwick Boseman means strength
—-
Pain was humiliated
It held many down
Conquered many a good dream
A captor of the soul
One black son of Africa
Looked you in the face
Chadwick Boseman humiliated pain
—-
Simple has a new meaning
Gentle is her kith
Resilience and tenacity
Greatness too
What else shall we call beauty?
Who else is all these?
Chadwick Boseman is a simple man
—-
What do you know about Wakanda?
Except you are one of us
You might only guess
It’s the land of our ancestors
Our fathers with good hearts
They’ve called our son home
Chadwick Boseman is Wakandan forever
