DogSled Music Group, known for it’s global full service independent platform for independent artist with physical and digital global distribution along with fulfillment, brings the world to the US Stage with the Soul Rock Band “Dark Suburb.”

The award-winning Ghanaian soul-rock band Dark Suburb takes mid-2000s alternative influences and combines them with character-driven stage presence, African masquerade, and social philosophy to make waves both in their homeland and in the US market. Combining an uplifting attitude with intensity and powerful, husky vocals, Dark Suburb creates a fresh and atmospheric take on rock music.

Inspired by Western acts such as Coldplay and Linkin Park as well as by other African rock and metal acts, Dark Suburb is a band formed of five characters: lead singer Kankan Bizing, guitarists Shamba and Samory Toure, drummers Shaka Zulu and Alfanso, bassist Khama, and keyboardist Akhenaten. With skeleton masks and rock music, some have pinned Dark Suburb as occult-similar to acts like Black Sabbath but in truth, the band portrays a heroic and benevolent force with the skeleton as a symbol of equality. This shows our human similarities beyond ethnic or national boundaries with unity which is much more than skin-deep.

Wanting to crossover to the US markets, Dark Suburb sought out CEO Isaac Fifi Yamoah Essel of Jungle House Events, who has a partnership with the American label DogSled Music Group (DMG). Strategically they felt this would increase their international following and allow them to expand their music globally. They are now planning to put on more live shows, increase their international following, and expand their brand by creating their own television series, Slum Chronicles.

Dark Suburb releases their first debut album in the US. The song titled ’Mama (Remix)’ is receiving heavy airplay in 12 top U.S. cities. Grammy Nominated & Dover Winning Producer Roger Ryan helped bring out the bands soul rock vibe.

This album will have Dark Suburb old and new fans hooked. With the mixture of cultures with its sing-along lyrics, the album pays homage to both cultures. The band created a fresh and atmospheric take on rock music.

Their titled song ‘Mama (Remix),’ which has blended lyrics hitting both sides of the worlds cry for help, was produced by Roger Ryan and features vocalist Nikie Conley who has worked with One Republic, Celine Dion, Ce Ce Winans, Disney US and Tokyo, Heather Headley, and Gloria Gaynor.
