“Me Time,” the precious time that keeps you glued together

BY NADIA KALEEN SALIFOU
Me time, two words that should put a smile on the face of every young professional woman, for obvious reasons. How important is it to really have this so-called me time, and what would life be like without it?
It’s no secret that the workday can be stressful for a young professional woman. This stems from making sure your skills are up to par every day of the work week, staying on top of all your tasks and completing projects. Not to mention you looking flawless while doing all the above. So many young professional women work 2-3 full time jobs, which makes the total workload overwhelming. This is exactly where the beautiful me time comes in to save the day.
To be able to press pause from the hectic workday and be able to regroup and get in touch with yourself are some of life’s smallest but most precious gems. These are the moments you give yourself words of affirmation all the while revisiting your accomplishments mentally and honoring your accolades. This may be done with a glass of cold wine or while having soft jazz tunes enter your ears as you enter a nice warm tub to soak off the day’s work-related stress. Either way, having this precious me time goes a long way and is actually necessary in the long run to keep yourself sane as you work a day at a time to have your own empire, all the while never cracking under pressure. Yes, this beautiful thing called me time keeps you glued together and intact. The small things go a long way, and the precious few moments you have to yourself that we call me time is a prime example of such.
Never neglect yourself or put yourself last. No matter how tough things may be or how hectic the workday is, make sure to have those few moments for yourself. Whether it’s early in the morning before you start your day or in the evening as the day ends, make sure to have some time for yourself. Regroup and continue to conquer.
