Marking ten years of partnership between the State Department’s Office of Global Partnerships, Concordia, and the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business, Special Representative for Global Partnerships, Dorothy McAuliffe, on September 19 presented the winner of the 2023 P3 Impact Award to The HealthTech Hub Africa, HTHA.

According to the website of the HealthTech Hub Africa, the organization is a hybrid Pan-African health tech accelerator with a physical co-working and community space in Kigali, Rwanda. The hub aims to help drive the development of health technologies in Africa and fast-track such innovations in public health systems through collaboration with government partners.

In a press release that further describes the mission and achievements of the organization, the Office of the Spokesperson of the U.S. State Department states that HTHA works in partnership with The Novartis Foundation, The Patrick J. McGovern Foundation, The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, Norrsken Foundation, Bridge for Billions, The Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution Rwanda, as well as government ministries in Senegal and Rwanda and a wider network of support partners.

Notably, as the press release states, HTHA meets “the needs of both entrepreneurs and governments toward their mutual goal of advancing health equity. They do so by providing a ten-month innovation and investment readiness program for health tech entrepreneurs.”
